1. Install the Extension

Visit the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome" to install FaviconDownload.dev. The extension icon will appear in your Chrome toolbar.

2. Navigate to Any Website

Go to any website whose favicon you want to download. The extension works on all websites that have a favicon.

3. Click the Extension Icon

Click the FaviconDownload.dev icon in your Chrome toolbar. The extension will automatically detect all available favicon variants on the page.

4. Select Formats & Download

Choose the formats you want (16×16, 32×32, original, SVG) and click "Download Selected" or use the "Copy URL" button to copy the favicon URL to your clipboard.

Multiple Format Support

Download favicons in different sizes and formats:

• 16×16 - Small ICO format, standard favicon size
• 32×32 - Medium ICO format, higher resolution
• Original - The original favicon as provided by the website
• SVG - Vector format if available (scalable, best quality)

Copy URL Feature

Instead of downloading, you can copy the favicon URL directly to your clipboard. This is useful for documentation, hotlinking in web projects, or sharing with team members.

Metadata Display

View detailed information about each favicon including file format (ICO, PNG, SVG), dimensions (width × height), and file size. This helps you choose the right format for your needs.

Auto-Detection

The extension automatically finds all favicon variants on a page, including standard favicons, shortcut icons, apple-touch-icons, and more. No manual searching required.

Extension icon is grayed out

The extension only works on regular websites. It won't activate on Chrome internal pages (chrome://, chrome-extension://), the Chrome Web Store, or local file:// URLs due to Chrome's security restrictions.

No favicon detected

Some websites don't have a favicon. If the extension doesn't find any favicon, it means the website hasn't configured one. Try refreshing the page or checking if the website actually displays a favicon in the browser tab.

Download not working

Make sure you've granted the extension download permissions. Check your Chrome downloads settings and ensure pop-ups aren't blocked. Also verify that your downloads folder is accessible and not full.

SVG format not available

Not all websites provide SVG favicons. The extension only shows formats that are actually available on the website. If SVG isn't shown, the website doesn't offer a vector favicon.
